At 4am last night, Caden stumbles into my room and awakes me by saying, "Mom, I had a bad dream." I tell him to lay down on the floor next to my bed and I get him a pillow and blanket. About 15 minutes later, I'm awakened again to "Mom, I can't sleep. I'm scared." I tell him that it's the middle of the night and he needs to get back to sleep and if he keeps waking me up he'll have to go back in his bed. (As I'm writing it down, it sounds kind of harsh, but hey, I was half asleep!) Not two minutes later I hear Caden again. This time he says, "Mom. I want to go back in my bed."
I then take him back to his bed and ask what he had a bad dream about. "Mario and a walrus with sharp teeth that transforms into a bad guy!" {What?} Anyways I put him down and proceed to tell him that I want him to stay in his bed and not come out until the morning.
I go climb back in bed and not 5 minutes later I hear talking. I get out of bed once again and see that the hall light is on and Lexi's bedroom light. Apparently Lexi heard Caden crying and told him to come lay in her bed with her. Caden brought in his night light so he wouldn't be scared. Lexi told him that she wouldn't be able to sleep with that bright light and so she took a glow-in-the-dark star off of her wall and gave it to Caden to hold so he wouldn't be scared. It was such a thoughtful thing to do for her brother. It's moments like these as a mother that I love...when I see the love that my children have for one another!
